I Saw You In The Moonlight Poem by Valerie Dohren

I Saw You In The Moonlight

Rating: 4.2

I saw you in the eve'ning
Soft halo'ed through the haze
And there beneath the glowing sun
Your visage was ablaze.

But I saw you in the moonlight
With stardust in your hair -
Transported from the realms of heav'n
It seemed, as you stood there.

Your beauty was amazing
It captured full my soul -
An angel sent from higher realms
To render each one whole.

But then I saw you weeping
Beneath the dark'ning sky -
I wondered why such sorrow borne
Could ever make you cry.

You carried all the heartache
That all below endure
Upon your soft and gentle form
So perfect and so pure.

I could not bear to witness
Such pain and hurt displayed -
To see you drown in teardrops spilled
As then to Him you prayed.

If only I could touch you
But you were just a dream -
A vision in my troubled mind
Cast in the moonlight's beam.

The magnificent combination of Beauty, Faith, Love and Sorrow so impeccably and touchingly expressed. Just about the best!
