I Said Unto The Setting Sun

the dawn of life is never done

I said unto the setting sun

or so it seemed on the movie screen

where I was still the fairy queen

and danced the dream of the sugarplums

and waltzed still happy behind the wings

of what onstage I could not sing

because they did not ask me.

and bore the light so lightly then

and knew it never had to end

if only we could be God's friends.

if only we could be God's friends.
