I Remembered You Poem by Mystic Qalandar

I Remembered You

I remembered You—
in the depths of night,
and in the brightness of dawn;
in the hush of stillness,
and in the storm's release—
when the world was new,
when hope gleamed,
and fear was no more.

The morning sang Your name
in moonlit hues of song;
and in every dream
the sunlight wove,
I saw but You— before me, within me—
with unwavering trust, drawn still
to Your bodiless, breathless Essence;
as though the gaze had risen high
toward the radiant Face
of the Eternal Beloved—
unshaken: "Ma zāgh al-basar."

Through the long folds of time,
I heard Your melody—
a music that never ceases.
I whispered too Your name,
softly, with love—
upon my tongue, within my heart—
yet You are Nameless,
unborn of any mother or father.

The echo of Your name
trembles through the hollow of being;
Your word becomes the hymn
of all creation—
resounding forever
in the heart of the cosmos.

Then— whether Mercy or Wrath,
God forbid—
You turn me away
from worldly veils,
revealing the splendor
of Your Face;
and within my chest
the secret fire of Alast
blazes once more—
the impossible past returns.

All that You have given,
all that You have shown—
a timeless wonder!
I guard this gift descending
into every breath—
and it abides forever.

Subhān Allah!
Across the vastness
of earth and sky,
Your Light prevails;
You bless my path.

No distance lingers
between Your Sun and the earth—
that Sun for which
there is no night nor day,
forever radiant, forever alive.

By the stars that shine
without the break of light,
that breathe new life into the dead—
by that grace alone,
my heart remembers You unceasingly,
perhaps because You remember me.

That eternal call of Alast—
never fading, never old—
I know…
it is You—
becoming my soul,
glorifying Yourself
through my being.
