I Remember Everything Poem by Matt Render

I Remember Everything

I remember everything

You all sat around expectantly
So sick and tired of waiting
And you bled me dry
before your eyes
I remember every second of it
And the procession has moved on
The days just keep getting longer
You tucked me into a bed of calamities
And these nerves served as
Something to hold onto
The terrors were as stark as being awake
And now as the day came breaking

I can still remember
All the little corners
I'd hide away in
With you just outside
Of arm's length
And your voice
Straining
Fleeting
Through strangled chords
Choked together
Broken
Always
Forever and always
Words away.
