I Play No More Poem by Mfonobong Ituen

I Play No More

I PLAY NO MORE

You came as a snare and turn me to prey.

I thought less to pray, with your grip
so strong

how you came here, I can't tell!

You grow faster than my faith

You made me believe it's all about to end.

taunting me with fears both night and day.

Deep inside i could feel you; others see you through my eyes.

Mistaking me for the monster, you are.

You hide within the invisible walls
tossing me to and fro the dark space.

I once believed your lie
defensive of your ungodly intent and plys.

Wishing it was a game I could play and not loose.

oh! my self you ripped; like a glass, shattered
into pieces.

I play no more....

I've gotten over the sick game of 'truth and dare'.

I refuse your pranks; a ride to horrible hell.

Now....

Your thoughts I think no more.

Your fears, I buried within the last night.

Though vague and gloomy my days seem,

My mind awakes against all odds you gave

To breathe and not die.

I Play No More
