There is a hint of parody in here. The poem is way beyond beautiful. It's really fantastic.
I must put down the small screen, The lonely screen, but why? All I ask is for bull s..t to slowly pass me by.
I believe they were last seen floating up the Thames? quite wet
There are several versions quoted with the passing years, vest and socks being one of the earlier ones and possible the original... I also heard him recite " pants and socks" one time
Brilliant stuff! I heard this live on radio in UK in the 1960's. Silly, silly, silly........GREAT!
For many years I have remembered the line to be 'vest and pants'. It looks like the poem is not quite dry!
