This poem seems an account of a missed opportunity. It; s as if a seeker blinked the moment the Phoenix burst into flames and now erroneously denies the event ever happened. When your speaker falls asleep - for whatever reason - he loses the chance to hear the wisdom the first of humanity might have spoken OR he did not give Adam
the sympathy he deserves and Adam must once again carry the burden of the ONE who lost PARADISE for the rest of us. Your poem reminds me of Goya's bitter statement, THE SLEEP OF REASON IS THE BIRTH OF MONSTERS.
