Dear Liza, when I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time in 2005, I was awed by the majesty of nature. And I sat with a group of Baptists whose minister spoke of the glory of God revealed in this wondrous place. I SHARED THEIR RELIGIOUS AWE. And the people flying in Chagall's paintings are always married couples celebrating their human love in its physical as well as spiritual dimension. Christianity doesn't deny the flesh and the world - It redeems them - The New Jerusalem and the Resurrection of the Body - it's in the Credo! !

Dear Liza, Marc Chagall's flying people often celebrate lovers in flight - they're married, often Marc and his first wife - because Chagall loved the earth and its people. There are usually angels in their midst. I always felt Chagall painted human beings as if we lived partly in EDEN still! ! Does it have to be either Heaven OR Earth - Why not Heaven AND Earth?
