I Love You Poem by Julie Smith

I Love You

Rating: 5.0

Birds flying under sunlit blue skies
Crowded metro stations at night
A walk in the avenue
Chasing the butterflies

Sharing a kiss that tastes like vanilla
The smoke of your cigarette smells sweet
Fake fur coat over a mini skirt
We're Lolita replicas dressed up as Priscilla

The tears we cry in hotel rooms
Shine like diamonds in a fake card deck
The knife on my skin writes a bloody trademark
On my arm, your name and 'I love you'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this just now when I was happy. Inspired by the song 'Florida Blues' by Cruel Youth and their whole vibe, Melanie Martinez' song 'Cake', Lana del Rey, Priscilla Presley, Lolita and so on. I'm feeling so grungy jaded nostalgic retro and happy right now :) xox
