I Love Dr. Seuss Poem by Jay Loring

I Love Dr. Seuss

I loved Dr. Seuss...and it
still makes me smile.
You might even say
I'm a Seussamophile!
An outright fanatic for
truth and some fibberish.
And for forcing a rhyme
with nonsensical gibberish!

I love to read this,
and I love to read that.
To tell and to retell of
The Cat in the Hat!
And Horton the elephant,
well, what would he do with
the hopping and hmmpfing
of Jane Kangaroo?

And the Grinch, oh that rascal,
he stole all their prizes.
Well, whose eyes don't tear up,
when his heart grows three sizes?
Or the fussy old eater,
they called Sam I Am -
oh he DOES, in the end, like
those green eggs and ham!

If you're not persuaded,
I could surely give more facts.
For I've been, you see,
since the 4th grade, The Lorax!
So if you've not read them,
I say, "Where've you been?
It's time to come out
from that hole or that den."

"Poor boy, " the man says,
"he's just not been the same,
since that terrible horrible day
...and that game.
Playing golf at the Brown's -
he'd been better off joggin'.
For he ended up with
a 4-wood to the noggin.

Though his brains
they were rattled,
and his bells - they were rung,
it seems to have made him
perpetually young!
No sense asking the doctors,
they never did show up.
The secret, HE says, is
to just never grow up! "
