A perennially worthwhile theme nicely handled. But the familiar situation - can we change gear to make the last stanza unforgettable?
I guess, we can do our best to not go gently into that good night, but we never win that fight. Thanks for the poem.
I really love this poem. I have my own about the same subject and was just reviewing it today and decided I wasn't brave enough to post it. Your poem is extremely well done, Michael. Life goes on and all we can do is accept it. Good work. Raynette
Can't say i agree with michael's or lamont's comments on the final stanza. The poem is simply exquisite, again this demonstrates some of your key qualities, for instance you’re talking essentially about a local event but pan it out with ‘New singers and movie stars will face the klieg lights and then slide into tell-all books and then out-of-print.’ The close of the poem is tender and beautiful.
