I'll Meet You At The Gate Poem by Ray Hansell

I'll Meet You At The Gate

When I get to heaven
I hope that I can see
You standing there by the gates
Waiting just for me

You'll already have your wings
Mine I'll have to earn
I know it will take time
For there are lessons I must learn

I must learn to be more patient
And to be more understanding
But what I must learn most of all
I can no longer be demanding

It's so much different here in heaven
Then it was back on earth
On earth we all had an expiration date
Starting from the day of our birth

Now when that date would come
Only God was the one to know
We just lived from day to day
Until it was time to go

When that day did finally arrived
The journey was short and fast
If there's one thing we learned on earth
It was that nothing seemed to last
