I Knew Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Knew

I knew

Once, I lived in Dubai
And had an accident
On the Al Khan bridge
By losing control…

Hit grills, smashed car
Many came, some passed by.

Ended in detention
Where I met princes
With long hair and beard.

"Sheikh Rashid in uncle, "
One of youths told me, aid:
"He took land and power
Of his late brother
And put us here to
Keep us shut, dead-silent."

This sort of government,
I knew, earlier
Thanks to land, government
In which was born and raised.

Brothers and sisters
With their kids, descendants
Fight and kill one other,
For the sake of kingdom.

So, am not surprised
With Saudi's news:
"Two Royals were detained,
One is King's brother,
Nephew is another…! "

This is fight of the dogs
For the bone and flesh
Of the poor, the preys…

I feel sad for nations
With brutal rulers...
