This poem made me think of life choices, of humankind, love for Art, for good and beauty. Wonderful poem! Maybe because I am Spanish born we share more than we think in culture, Maddalena!
The path we walk in this life may be chosen already or may have the free will. It is up to us most of the time to choose good over evil. Excellent poem!
The refrain you found for this poem is so supple and ironic that it fits a variety of situations. While it meaning has a central point, it also changes subtly. The five situations that the refrain frames are inspired. I especially like the fourth about teaching natural things which are cooperative unlike people who resist. The quietest of the five is also the most poignant: as you play sweet music children are resting SAFELY. the first two deal with violence of which the first makes us feel fear but the second is the house divided against itself. I don't know which is worst but both waste resources to no good end. I'm glad the finall situation is a discovery of special powers that lead to treasure. It's deserved! Hearing you recite this poem was a peak experience.
