I Hear The Babies Crying... Poem by Lesa MRK

I Hear The Babies Crying...

I hear the babies crying,
As their mothers hurt them,
And their fathers desert them,
As they die and grow still.

And I - I can understand,
It is wrong
In my heart
In my mind
In my soul
I remember.

It creeps to me,
An unspoken cry,
Of glass shattered,
Of blood shed.

It is not for us to decide,
For we are not the maker,
We are the taker,
Of what is laid before us.

For it is the destruction,
Of life so new,
And it is not the answer,
Nor what it is intended of.

Maybe you'll never understand,
What I have tried so hard to say,
Until you feel the pain of it,
In this way.

I ask myself-
Why does it matter?
But I know,
And I am sadly proud.

The rivers are flowing red,
And silent screams flood the mind.
It has been said,
'The pain shall forever bind.'
