I Have Set You Free... Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

I Have Set You Free...

I have set you free, go, live your life.
I have set you free, go, away from me.
You have your freedom, now you may do as you please.
No, you can not have your cake and eat it too.
But hopefully you have gleaned the truth,
Of what love is and what it isn’t.
The pain will subside, as time passes on,
And through it you will live.
One day you will find another,
Love her; don’t treat her as you did me,
Lest you find yourself alone,
In the years, when you need someone, the most.
I have set you free, go; my heart is no longer yours to abuse.
I have set you free, go, and find out who you are.
You think of you, and how you feel; what about the ones you hurt?
Are they not allowed to feel?
You think of you, and what makes you happy; what of those in your life?
Do they get to experience happiness and joy, or is this just a by product?
You say you love me, with all of your heart; what of my love of the six years?
If I did not count then, or matter at all, why would I believe you would change?
I have set you free, go, and live your life.
I have set you free, go…. Away from me….
