Intriguing poem. Has man ever used his light? One could also ask: Where does his light come from?

This is an interesting poem with a perplexing theme/question... What is man? I was confused at first when you switched in your questioning saying, ' is man...' To then answering that 'both are...' Both man and? Are you referring to man, the human and man's soul? The last lines of the poem add an interesting layer to your piece, 'has man ever used his light? / my heart and soul to the question fight'. So, we see here both a personal and societal struggle to understand man's role in the world and also to be able to place value or judgement upon that role. There's no specific mention of the soul until the end... Which brings forth the spiritual. A very thought provoking poem. This topic would make a nice sonnet too. Well done!

Humans are trying their best to reform himself irrespective of backlashes to his attempts. However keeping a positive view for humanity is the only solution I think possible. However this poem is a part of creative thought and it is marvelous in all respects.

Man is a complex puzzle! It is difficult to analyze him..... hard to decide if he is kind or cruel.... and if he is making use of the inner light to his advantage and the advantage of the people around. It is true that antagonistic forces reside within him... the angel and the devil! Highly philosophical!

A wonderful poem, Abdulrazak. Somewhere human nature is as mysterious as the deep sea.

Yes, man is a mystery and will never be understood in this life, he is a human being with the nature of God within him. A very complex yet simple being having no answers for anyone, least of all himself. Very thought provoking message. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

Yes, the question we all struggle with. Terrific use of long sentences and rhyming words. Both inhale and exhale the same air. I really like that. Vera Sidhwa
