I have dreamed of you so much that you are no longer real.
Is there still time for me to reach your breathing body, to kiss your mouth and make
your dear voice come alive again?

Congratulations being chosen as The Classic Poem Of The Day by Poem Hunter And Team. Hoorray!
An honest true poem so efficiently worded in pure surrealism.5 Stars full. As one who paints in impressionistic style, I fully understand this surrealistic poem. Powerful and with deep insight.
Extreme feelings can hold us spellbound. An interesting and wonderful poem. Beautifully and powerfully expressed.

A beautiful and well expressed poem that captures the many wonders of love. Strong and poignant emotions woven powerfully.
You are a poet not some middle schooler doing a homework assignment
Too many lines that are a bit over the top like this one For faced with the real form of what has haunted me and governed me for so many days and years, I would surely become a shadow.
I found this poem five years ago at the advent of an intercontinental relationship. I thought it beautiful then. Five years later, and with no love lost, I find it tawdry and cheap. It understands nothing. It touches upon nothing. Love grows and strengthens, and what I thought this described, doesn't come close to what actually happens. Thank God, because this is torturous. And the reality is not. I am still happy. Happier than ever. There are no shadows here.
Beautiful poem about of life sorrows and says eunuch sorrows in this world
It maybe worth it to look at the original French version of this beautiful poem - 'J'ai tant rêvé de toi que tu perds ta réalité.
= scales of feeling! With the muse of deep love in your heart. Nice work.
Here is an emotion not felt by many. Rare it may be but didn't escape poet's keen eyes. He brought it out here beautifully.
Hi Kim, I agree a little bit, but also think that we all dream of finding that special someone.... And sometimes it comes as just an ideal, not necessarily a physical woman. There's something inside us that drives us to search for that special person, that better half, that soul mate. And I believe in soul mates. Unfortunately there's some poor woman out there who is mine..... Boy did she ever get the short straw.... I don't know who she is yet, but she is such a large part of my desires in life - so deeply, that she does reach into my dreams as well. I get Mr. Desnos Poem completely...
Dreaming and living in illusion makes one to be real so forever!
Dreaming and living illusion its makes the hero to be living real is fantastic to read in this poem!
Robert Desnos is an inspiration to me, because I love surrealist love poetry.
A great poem of missed opportunity in love. Great one.
