I Gave You The Key To My Heart Poem by Amy Martin

I Gave You The Key To My Heart

I gave you the key to my heart,
Hoping we wouldn't fall apart.
You abused the love I gave to you,
I couldn't beleive my wish had come true.
I found someone that i could love,
But didn't get someone that could love me,
I thought this was the chance that god had gave to me.
The chance of utter fulfilment,
And the chance of enduring love,
I wish I could hold you now and shower you with love.
But that isn't going to happen,
As your with another girl,
You were in my life for a while then you left my world.
You were in my head for a moment but you didn't escape my heart,
People telling me that were better off apart.
But I just shrugged my shoulders with a tear running down my face,
The love i had for you will never be replaced.
I think of you every night before i go to bed,
Wishing that i saved this love which is now so deep and dead.
I gave you the key to my heart but all you did was stray,
Kept it for a minute then chucked the key away.
It's funny how you can captivate my broken un-healed heart,
Just by saying 'till death do us part'.
And now the storys ending,
As I shed a tear,
I remember how much love i gave,
To that boy i loved so dear.
