I, Floyd Blake Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

I, Floyd Blake

I, Floyd Blake

My name is Floyd Blake
I am as dark as coals
I just want to survive
I came four hundred years ago,
together, we built this land,
now you pull the trigger on me

My hands are up, don't shoot
If i die now, i cant breed

I am the real real Mc Coy
I coupled trains you use,
to wage genocide on me.
When your heart misfired,
my Negro brother opened it,
fixed it so you breathe again

I m down, remove the boot
I cant inhale; i cant breathe

What is it you are afraid of?
My colour is not my choice
Coming here was by force
My God is the same God,
that you faithfully worship,
then stomp foot; point a gun

My hands are up, dont shoot
I am down, remove your boot
I cant inhale, i cant breathe
If i die now; i cant breed
