I Don't Know

I don't know why you think I am a fake,
Somebody must have whispered in your ear,
A tale of shadows, spun for shadows' sake,
To cloud the truth and fill your heart with fear.

The words they spoke were woven from deceit,
A web of lies to snare your trust in me,
Yet here I stand, with honesty replete,
A soul unmasked, as clear as one can be.

What proof can I present to change your mind?
What light can pierce the darkness of your doubt?
For in your eyes, the truth is hard to find,
And silence grows where once was love's devout.

But still, I'll wait, with patience as my guide,
For time reveals the truth none can deride.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
People were saying bad things about me... which saddened me very much.
