In the midst of a storm
Engulfed by clouds of despair
A man once dared
Against the wishes of the powers that be,
To proclaim that he has a dream
Which with the passage of time came to be.
And so like this great man,
With a tinge of vanity
And to honour history
I too dare to declare
That I have a dream.
I have a dream
A dream that one day if not I,
My people shall hold their heads high
Having won the fight
Against vain pride,
And the petty kitchen politics
That to poverty bounds them tight
And embrace education
To catch up with others
Who have left them far behind.
