You wouldn't like to be committed, trust me. I've worked in places like that and it's not good. I didn't feel safe in any of them.

'That have made you a madman Or just a crackpot or moron.' 'you' might 'better be' 'someone'! I've twice been 'mental health arrested', meaning taken 'by force' by police to spend a fun time in a 'normal hospital' JUST BECAUSE i 'said' the word 'suicide';

stanza 5 may be my favorite one. Anyone thinking this: 'I thought about trying to get committed once.'...should see the movie One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, from 1975. : )

'Normally' I'd frown upon a poet capitalizing the first word of each line, regardless whether it is the start of a sentence or a 'proper noun'. But I had no problem with this poem.

stanza 1: 'else'...I'd use 'else's'. 'Shoes', huh? I KNOW (that) MY shoes are too old for ME! ! Can you 'say' split seams and holes? But I DO have a newer/better pair. : )

Gary, I'm pleased that I stumbled upon this poem. ***** and a favorite. I THINK I'm 'moron' than more off. My 3rd wife sometimes called me a 'moron'....in an endearing way. My 4th calls me an autistic at times, as though there is somethin' strange about being one. Hmm? ? bri : )

'The way of the shut in.' How about 'shut-in' **? ** 'A shut-in is a person who is confined to their home, a room, or bed due to illness or disability, and rarely or never leaves home. '

I think line ELEVEN 'wants' the word 'More' at its start.. Stanza 3 was somewhat humorous, but .........I did not laugh.
