WOW! This is a wonderful poem! It exists on two levels: the human and the spiritual. I see in your Note about the Poem you identify the spiritual level. When I read it the first time, I read it as a poem about human relationships and the unusual need or expectation of the person for an empty heart - What an impossible demand! Even a child's heart is filled with previous loves of all kinds. After I read your Note, I re-read the poem as a spiritual experience and realized it's not literally an empty heart the almighty figure expects; it's a pure heart, a welcoming heart. Last summer I read an anthology of poems from the Bhakti Path to God (in English translation) and when read as a spiritual expression, your poem reflects many of those I read in that collection..
