Mirror, Mirror!
Tell me 'Am I beautiful? '
I used to ask my mirror several times a day
Feeling confident
When mirror reflects back my smile.
Wearing a new dress or trying a new hairdo
I twirl and swirl before the mirror to get a picture, perfect.
'Tell me, tell me mirror! Am I beautiful '
Mirror reflects my smile.
Then gradually , on my skin, wrinkles started to appear
Hair was getting grey
My smooth silky hair was gone
I was distressed at seeing
My receding hair lines.
Mirror, Mirror! Am I beautiful?
Mirror was taking time to say 'yes'
The number of yeses gradually decreased and stopped.
Giving my spirit a downward push.
The other day, my sweet little grand daughter
Came visiting me from America
Taking me in tight embrace, she exclaimed
'Grandma! I have never seen any one as beautiful as you!
Your white hair shines like sunshine, your lap feel like soft cushion
I don't want to leave you.
I want to hold you tight
And feel the loving light.'
A smile lit up on my face
From my mind, I threw out
The mirror's words
As I could see the beautiful 'Me'
In my grand daughter's eyes.
