I Am Your Darkness Poem by Robert Hilary

I Am Your Darkness

I am the essence of your being.
I am the voice, that stokes the fire that burns in your eyes.
I am the breeze, that rips the kite from your hand,
I am the salt of your tears. I am the life in your blood.
I am the reality that you've dreamt of, but never believed.
I am the ice that encases your heart, as the pangs of betrayal, rejection and hate, siphon the warmth from your soul.
I am the nightmare that leaves you sweating, screaming in the night.
I am the one who hears, as you whisper into nothingness; "is there anyone out there like me? "
I am the chains, that bind you to your passed, a reminder of your regrets, your failure your shame. I am the madness that tears at your mind, when you look around, and see that you are all alone.
I am the doubt in your heart, that questions those you love and trust.
I am the pain, and the grief, that make you wish you'd never been born.
I am the result of your anger, your greed, your suspicion.
I am half of what you fear, half of who you are.
I am your reflective image.
The paradox of all that is you.
I am the darkness that dwells within you,
Feeding off of you.
Invoking the negative, harmful thoughts, which you conjure in your mind.
I influence your actions. Guide your heart.
I am the root of your evils.
You're conceit, your lies, and your crimes.
I am the sin in your flesh your bones.
I am the source of your insanity,
You are my victim,
And I will be there as long as you are alive.
