I Am You Poem by John Oluwadunjoye

I Am You

Rating: 5.0

I bring you joy, I bring you sadness
I come from peace, yet established on the lanes of violence
I give hope through a birth of hopelessness
I shine light to the world, as I cast away the shadow of darkness
yet it seems you get confused
and say I am not to be trusted
that I'm cunning and power I've lusted
to be the one and only to ever survive
you accuse me both to death and been alive
it's an abomination you say, born out of desperation
who snuffs flower souls from their beds with no consultation
I've been called a lot of names more than I could remember
Judas, death, some even call me the messiah
but the truth is I've been here way before you all came
existing in the cosmos looking not for glory or fame
yet you all decided to call on me genuinely as been human
and here I have been answering your calls
then you say I deceived the first woman who was a male with no balls
open like a book, you claim u could read me
sometimes stormy, at times dangerously calm
not wanting to admit that you never really knew me
now dare I ask, do you really know who I am?

I Am You
