As Mathew Arnold counselled,
'Thou hadst one desire', I had
one...to become a teacher.
I got what I desired.
I became a Professor.
When you get placed
in the profession you desire,
it is like a blessed child sitting
at the kingly throne of its
mother's lap and watching
the paegentry of the busy world.
I teach Literature and Language
at an Institute
Of Higher Learning.
Teaching is true learning.
I enjoy learning this way.
Four decades of profound
learning, teaching explicating
the known, unknown and the
less-known, a period of
self-exploration too.
I relish the exploration
of teaching poetry, my favourite
realm in the reverberating rich
reservoir of English Literature.
And my pupils too come along
in this zealous journey.
For the study of Literature is an
act of pleasure, a treasure
beyond measure.
