I Am Born Woman Poem by Kavya S Babu

I Am Born Woman

Forbidden treasure,
is everything, for me?
for I am born woman.

I too love the lights of night.
But my love remains unreturned
for I am born woman.

I too love to cross the borders,
be it day or night.
But it's a no entry always
for I am born woman.

I too wish to climb over.
My longing for adventure is nothing less.
But am not given an entry card
for I am born woman.

I too have a mouth to disclose,
my stand, my vision and more.
But it seems you have no ears
for I am born woman.

I too have friends.
We too love to explore.
Wanderlust is not just for the other.
But we are denied applause
for we are born woman.

I too have dreams
that forget to sleep at day.
But mine is devalued, why?
For I am born woman.

Me too have a self,
that deserves deep respect.
I love it to the fullest
for I am born woman.

Pain is not something new.
Have crossed many, before.
Will win it someday, somehow
for I am born woman.

I too know to defend.
You can't touch my strong conscience.
I'll win the game, one day
for I am born woman.

Have crossed many fences, by now.
There remains none to build one fit.
I have a stringent heart, you know?
for I am born woman.

When it is dark in the day, or night,
you can't make me blind and weak.
I have known my power; being woman.
Your dark can't defeat my light, beware
for I am born woman.

Made of fire, I am.
Still I remain cool.
You can't explain how.
That is how our deep is.
For we are born woman.
