I murdered, and I happily did kill
For money, for revenge and for the thrill,
And I did it all and thus
Who am I, I am Barabbas.
Jesus is of course is my given name
When people came to blame,
And at me the Romans would always cuss
My surname, was of course Barabbas.
I was a criminal and a thief
In laws and honoring life I had no belief.
For my crimes I was arrested and I was jailed
A thieving and murdering scum I was known and hailed.
For my sins and evils I must pay
My life was to be given this very day,
For murdering and robbing with my sword and knife
Today, I will be surrendering my life.
It was Passover and the Jews would decide
Between me and an innocent man to be crucified,
My living or death the Jews began to discuss
Who would die, Christ, or me Barabbas.
Christ died on the cross for them and me
He was innocent and I was a bandit and murderer set free,
They screamed crucify Jesus, and let his blood be on us
I was released, I am Barabbas.
