Hummingbird Heartbeat

Like the first flutter of life.
Like a gentle butterfly kiss.
Her heart was pumping,
Hummingbird beat.
Soft and faint.
Barely a sigh.
Freer than a breeze,
that cools a cheek
in deep Winter,
was the liferope
tying her to this Mortal realm.
Just a Hummingbird beat.
Faint the sound
that signals that life
abounds.
She felt light,
she felt free.
Soon she will release
her Anchors to fly off
into the Sky, torpor on a
Hummingbird beat.
The trill that barely
measured a drop in a
timble.
Quicker than the eye
can see,
fainter than the ear
can hear,
was her Hummingbird beat.
hu..hum..hu..hum..hu..hum..
Shh...
