Just read this one for the first time, Zaynab. I really like it. It is thoughtful and hopeful. Your staccato style here is well chosen too. These words came to my mind: “If in this life only we have hoped..., we are to be pitied more than anyone.” The resurrection to a better life is not just a hope but a guaranteed promise by one who cannot lie.

Yes wow dear friend you sure grasped and added to it in a brill wise understanding and thought. Yes so true and I admire how you say it that we would be a most pitiable lot if this is the only life we have. And that the resurrection is the guaranteed promise by the one who can not lie, yayy wow hurrah amen to that, way to say! ! ! Warmest thanks! ! ! !

Of course, we have no way of knowing what comes after death. Religious belief, however, becomes so convincing to people, they act as if faith is factual and the soul's immortality and the palatial paradise you cited are guaranteed. That's still faith, not proof. You made a list of all of the injustices, suffering, etc. life after death would redress. Why do these things have to happen in the first place? Why not Paradise Now? Enough said!

Hi! I guess I didn't see this comment or I would have responded. You see religious belief as I know it is factual because it is backed and provable by science. As for suffering, you see this world wasn't meant to be the perfect happy paradise, we have to work for that one. This earth is meant for our test and trial to deserve the paradise in the afterlife.

Cont/.. Then also our wrongdoings and sins cause our own sufferings and can cause others to suffer. If we followed the one true God to a tee we wouldn't have suffered many hardships and problems in life. Thanks so much for comment.

An enjoyable piece; appreciated the message; nicely conceived. -Joe Breunig, Reaching Towards His Unbounded Glory P.S. In terms of critiquing, I'm not crazy about the formatting and lack of punctuation- for me, it was a distraction from a thought-provoking poem.

Amen to your prayer Zaynub, from life to the life hereafter, from time to eternity, the journey is an expected one and the abode there will be permanent one, I see there is a positive approach in your deep though simple poem, if we spend time in doing good deeds with good intentions, there's nothing to fear in that long and permanent journey! Congrats Zaynub for writing a strong poem...the style is different and flowing, increasing the curiosity of the reader to see what next! ! ! Good job! ! !

Reincarnation theory/ theory of re-birth as per the hindu scripture is established one. Though one does not know what happens after death, yet the past karmas/action in any yoni/form do play a part in one's next birth out of 84 lakhs yonies/specices. The human form is the ultimate form of the cycle of birth. But if the action of a human is satanic, one has to undergo cycle of re-births again otherwise he/she attains nirvaana.(merging with GOD and no more births) .Why do we suffer or why do we enjoy? It depends on how have we conducted ourselves in the past life. After reading your lovely poem twice, its last two lines prompted me to write my views. Thanks for sharing.
