what you say, tony, makes me think of the last request in the lord's prayer—deliver us from ourselves and the evil one. for me it means not adding to the guilt and shame already committed in our lives. i also think, though, of the importance of forgiving—ourselves and others—and am reminded of ps 103 which tells us God removes our sins as far as the east is from the west and that God pities us as a father his children. -glen
