How Long Have We Been Married Poem by keith brown

How Long Have We Been Married

How long have we been married my true love said too me
"Oh It's more than 50 years"
She said its 53
She said "do remember when my hair was black as coal
My blue eyes shone like diamonds and desire filled your soul"

I remember. I remember

She said "I still remember when your back was straight and strong
Your arms where made of steel
Your golden hair was long"

I remember. I remember

She said "do you remember the day I dressed in white
You gave a golden ring and I became your wife,
You promised to protect me and gave to me your heart
And made a Solomon promise until death we do we part"

I remember I remembered

She said "Do you remember when the children used to play,
If they fell andgrazed a knee how you'd wipe their tears away"

Do you remember? Do you remember?

I said "that I remembered each and every single year
All her loving all the heart breaks all the laughter and the tears".

Till the day we dress in black my true love you will be
If you will take my hand for another 53

Yes. I remember.Oh. I remember
