How I Believe Poem by Randy McClave

How I Believe

I was raised
That God loves us one and all,
At life we all should be amazed
And that we each have a special call.
I am better than no one
And no one is better than me,
And when I am gone
God will replace me with a tree.

I was taught
To never lie or cheat,
Honesty should be always sought
Because one day God I will meet.
I will do no one any wrong
And I pray that the feelings are the same,
Happiness makes us strong
Hurt given only brings us shame.

I was told
To always keep my word,
It would keep me faithful and bold
As I have once read and heard.
I will always forgive
To those who have hurt and used me with a smile,
In peace I want my tormentors to live
To them, never will I be hostile.
