How Do You Receive A Guest Poem by Emmanuel Joseph Olumakiss

How Do You Receive A Guest

How do you receive a guest?
Is it by the color of the vest?
One from a long distant mile
From a different country he arrive

Would you spend your whole dollar on rent?
Or kindly take him to your tent
Where he would spend more than a week
Making provisions for him to eat and drink

How would you receive a guest?
One different from your faith
One you've never known or seen
What if a strange character he bring?

Would you throw him out of your bed?
Or keep him till night fade
Someone you newly met
That isn't your blood in no way you relate.
