How Dare You Tell Me To Give Up! Poem by fizzy faith

How Dare You Tell Me To Give Up!

And who are you that I should care when you tell me to stop?
To say I must not even dare to try to reach the top?
Each mountain that the Lord creates is like a challenge fought,
I still recall that Scripture states, By faith, great things are wrought!
Condemn me not in thought or deed, or words that spin and spin,
For I believe I will succeed, I will not lose but win!

If not by faith, I would not start an exploit such as this,
I leave all doubts and then depart, maintaining perfect bliss.
I trust I have a destiny that no man can prevent,
God granted me a prophecy regarding my intent.
And step by step, today I rise upon my climb above,
And firmly reach toward the prize based on my Father's love.

Are you a son of God Most High? Adopted by God's grace?
Or one who always questions why and will not seek God's face?
That mountain has no heart or mind, no spirit and no soul,
But I have blood and bones entwined, this body to control.
And even if this day I die, to Heaven, I ascend,
Without a tear, without a sigh to see God as my friend!

Denis Martindale, the last day of May 2025.

This Gospel poem is about Easter and Jesus going to Calvary.
The devil tries to dissuade Jesus from His eternal destiny.
The Easter poem's title describes Jesus as He defies the devil.

HOW DARE YOU TELL ME TO GIVE UP!

Jesus refers to Calvary as a mountain He must conquer.
Whether God keeps Jesus safe from death or not.
If Christ dies, He knows He will rise from the dead.
Soon, Christ will ascend to Heaven to meet God.
This is how the first Easter leads us through to the
Resurrection, Ascension and later to Pentecost.
