Horse Betting Poem by Shaun Cronick

Horse Betting

Rating: 5.0

I bet on a horse,
With a curly tail.
Lost all my cash,
Had to sleep in jail.

He looked the best,
Of simply them all.
High stepping and lively,
He would never fall.

He kept on going,
Down the track.
He passed the one,
Next to the back.

Sure I'm a winner,
My ticket I hold.
For many a man,
This story told.

I'm just one of those,
Simply betting to win.
You'd think the same,
But under your skin...

My horse, your horse,
Which is the best.
Runs past his shadow,
Never the rest.

If I should trade,
Him for a cow.
Sure he'd fool me,
And run somehow.

I choose to keep him,
A short while yet.
So someone else,
Can lose a bet.
