We are all prisoners
In hope's golden prison
It takes hope no time
To gently lure us in
It charms one and all
In its tender charming ways
Blinding both our eyes
With dreamy golden rays
It pulls upwards and onwards
On a smooth gilded path
Closing the door behind us
On the troubles of the past
Hope's golden prison moves
On and on towards the future
The charmed helpless prisoners
Not willing to break its door
