Hope Poem by Jesse Mejia

Hope

Hope...a blessing or a curse?

When a man has nothing, its hard to hurt him. Harm his body, his mind, his soul, but you could never cause as much pain as that which stole everything from him.

Hope is the only thing that weakens him, it gives him something to lose. it is a weakness that can cripple and disfigure his being. A man with hope is as vulnerable as a lamb before a lion. hope causes irrationality and stupidity, a defect in the design, like a weakness in a ships hull...his achilles heel.

yet hope gives incentive, purpose, a reason to correct and improve. with out hope a man will rot and decay with no sense of right and wrong.

hope has stolen everything from me, and yet it has given my life meaning a reason to wake in the morning...a purpose.

perhaps hope is a fickle state of mind, a razors edge. if one hopes too much they lose everything with its destruction, but if on loses all hope they become hollow and lost.

stray carefully my friends for the path ahead is one of both pain and joy.
