HOMES - HOPES OF MY ENDEAVOURS SUCCEEDING
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
PM Justin Trudeau is "infinite of mood and uncommunicative of tense"
Meaning he is happy and supportive but not revealing his past or future plans for me
I, in P.G. Wodehouse style, think that I have been relegated to a speck of dust
On his lovingly loved tie,
Luckily, ties are not washed
The smell of "mignonette" I know not
But as the internet says, if it is a herb with flowers
It is like basil which chooses to flower in spring
I planted the seeds for wildflowers and baby's breath
And while waiting for red trillium seeds
I ordered widow's tears which come
As three colours of flowers
And will remind me of my winning mother's
Inconsolable grief at my father's death
I was eleven years at that time, the youngest of three children
And remember how bravely she faced the world
And raised the three of us
I used to tease her as seducing my father in my years of youth
In their first meeting and I imagine
Memories of herself as a blushing bride
Must have caused her fresh grief
And her tears cannot wash away
The sweat and blood that my engineer father
Expended in building what has become her home
The "Flat Roof Manor" called thus
Because I am drinking a white wine by the same name
A tall rambling house
Which speaks of "Psyche at the fountain"
Me in my childhood and youth
And if the walls of my 37, Elora Road, Toronto, Home could speak
They would whisper the voice that echoes in me
The voice of renewed hope
That PM Justin Trudeau shall publish and pay me as I deserve.
