Homage To a Legendary singer, latamangeshkar Jee. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Homage To a Legendary singer, latamangeshkar Jee.

Rating: 5.0

Extinguished the lamp
of life of a distinguished
daughter and a veteran singer
of my beloved mother-land.
A recipient of the highest
civilian award, Bharat Ratna,
enthralled all Indian hearts,
inspired many become singers
of a variety of brands.

Her euphonic magical vocal cords
combined with hard toils
earned her the sobriquet
'The nightingale of India',
also'the melody queen',
dominated the sphere
for decades together.
More than thirty thousand songs
echoing in our hearts
is no more.

Superb incomparable style
of singing and her patriotism
have immortalised the singer
in our minds forever.
The void left by her sad demise
is very hard to be filled
in near future.

We bow down our heads
with reverence and gratitude,
Pray God to bestow His blessings
for perpetual peace
of the departed soul.
If God wishes, she would
comeback to us by one more birth
with her rock and roll.
