History Poem by Randy McClave

History

History is not there for you to like or to dislike
It's not there for you to hate and then with a fist to strike,
And it is not there to want you to take the books to burn
It is there for you and I and for the future to understand and learn.
History is there for you and us to learn and understand from
To remember a time to which we will not ever again succumb,
So, that horrific past of ours may not ever happen once again
To the beginning and formation of a previous hate and sin.
If history books ever horrifies and also offends you
Because of hate, murder racism and bigotry which is true,
You will then learn from the facts which does permit
Now, God willing you are less likely to ever want to accept it.
With all due respect please always think and then reflect
Our present one day will someday might be a historic subject,
History is facts and memories to read and to hate and also to enjoy
But, history is not yours or mine to ever ignore or to destroy.
