Histories Unerased Poem by Soumili Karmakar

Histories Unerased

The humming sound of the Earth's orbit
Secluded by the equator lone it thrives.
We, as so must have been in battles
We, as so must have snatched the doe's little born from her chest at night.

Irony, hyperbole or antithesis indeed it is none
But the silent tears of those that wept
Though lost or undefeated
Both a parody of the drenches of mankind had smirked.

Swords, words, gallantry were powress of counsels when we read the history of Pandava kings
Draupadi though she was shamed by Duryodhan
Was the chosen one as soon as she was born.
To change the course of history in those times
To begin with Vyasa's prophesy and at last ending with
The voice of a woman she had sung.
It was at last the Divine with peacocked feather
Called her to be no less than a Goddess of her time.

Here, we read the worldly attachments of most mortal men
Being the sole proprietor of our kingdom
But when the massacre soars till the end
Isn't it the burning of homes and left carcasses that regards historians to remind?

Deformation or dehumanization what you may call as you may
But defining discipline through it
To put an end and have the potion of the elixir of life
Never meant to make them immortal all through life
Ending in dreads of death.

Obsequious rules of war
Were put forth before the Great Battle
Though the principles were formed by the greatest Kshatriyas'
But tell me who did follow undoing his Pride?
Tell me was it not the Four of the Kaurava Kings
With one though history trembles to call him so as a Pandava
Stepped to be the cause of Uttara's cries because of Abhimanyu's demise?

Were not the concrete, abstract or materialistic realms too dwelt
Where all the worlds if so we have called it
Rested inside his mouth?
Was he not the one who acknowledged the truth before it was long foretold in wars?

Perhaps, a long living toil with divided sceptre rules our world
Perhaps, men desired to die in battlefields by giving their price.
Perhaps, this twenty first century still revolves around with resolutions long vowed before the kinsmen could have endured
Perhaps, whatever it is in disguise
The souls of ancient vengeance is still not appeased by any of the single souls
That fought the battle for claiming
Righteousness in the world which has still forgotten the virtues of humankind.
