His Place At Table Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

His Place At Table

Rating: 5.0

Dying many years ago
Love of her life, delight of heart
Father of her children
Grandfather, gentle, wise
Taken after short illness
Cancer stricken fighting to the end.

Still lays his place at table
Empty chair where he sat
Remembering happiness shared
Thankful they met and married
Now lonely without him
Visiting grave Sunday afternoons.

To have had a love such as this is beautiful. Interesting to still make a table setting and to be held back all this time later by grief.
