HIRAETH

Hiraeth is where I long to be
Childhood memories that comfort me
Good old days, one time more... I'd like to see
Hiraeth is where I long to be

The way we remember the enigmatic past
We yearn for the life we thought would last
The good old days weren't always good… (we ken quite fast!)
The way we remember the enigmatic past

In my mind's ear I hear Ma and Da
I hear Ma talk about her dear old Pa
His ancient accent clear… (a gravelly 'Ja')
In my mind's ear I hear Ma and Da

Hiraeth is where I long to go
A place where life's drudge we may forego
To wander a wooded path… from long ago
Hiraeth is where I long to go

As Betjemsn said, ‘It's strange that those we miss the most, are those we take for granted'. Nice One.
