Hippopotamus! Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Hippopotamus!

The hippopotamus!
With the strength of its loins and,
The power of its massive belly;
Feeding on the grass like an ox,
Moving its tail like a cedar tree.

The hippopotamus!
The tendons of its thighs are tightly knitted;
And its bones are like the beams of bronze!
With its ribs like the bars of iron.
