Marvellous write. The imagery is sublime. A very creative work that depicts death as the highest flight. I find your vision very vast. May your father's soul rest in eternal peace. A son couldn't have paid a better tribute.

Exquisite poem.. Not only for someone who has soared in the blue skies but for ordinary mortsls to set their imaginations on a wing and tumble against G forces.. Salute to your father being an IAF brat myself..thanks

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter silvered -wings Sun ward I have climbed and join the mirth Of sun split clouds-and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of-wheeled and soared and swung- -so beautiful lines to describe the final journey of soul towards heaven cutting the bondage of earth.Really loved the poem for its beauty and meaning.

@ Hunter Lyda if you would like to see the references, you would appreciate. Its an adaptation and a duly acknowledged one. my faith does not allow for saying some things there are red lines ....and hence the adaptation. but you have a keen eye i must say... :) blessings

Today i say final farewell...its our traditional farewell memorial dinner for the departed soul....age old tradition.... GOOD BYE DAD.... The rocky shore extended to the sea. The town of Camarine from far we see, And fenny lake, undrain'd by fate's decree. In sight of the Geloan fields we pass, And the large walls, where mighty Gela was; Then Agragas, with lofty summits crown'd, Long for the race of warlike steeds renown'd. We pass'd Selinus, and the palmy land, And widely shun the Lilybaean strand, Unsafe, for secret rocks and moving sand. At length on shore the weary fleet arriv'd, Which Drepanum's unhappy port receiv'd. Here, after endless labors, often toss'd By raging storms, and driv'n on ev'ry coast, My dear, dear father, spent with age, I lost: Ease of my cares, and solace of my pain, Sav'd thro' a thousand toils, but sav'd in vain The prophet, who my future woes reveal'd, Yet this, the greatest and the worst, conceal'd; And dire Celaeno, whose foreboding skill Denounc'd all else, was silent of the ill. This my last labor was. Some friendly god From thence convey'd us to your blest abode.' Book 3 Aeneid Virgil

My sincere condolences. I have nothing wise to say, since I have never lost anybody close to me. Only, that it must be difficult. The poem is beautiful, romantic, timeless, seamless, airy. Seems to be of the Persian style.

Saadat - this is a lovely, heartfelt tribute to your wonderful father. It is filled with deep emotion and respect for someone you care deeply for, and the loss has created a huge hole in your heart, which is understandable. There is a special bond between a father and son that cannot be denied. He was your mentor, your anchor and your friend. I know that he is still there with you, and is proud of the son that you are. My heart goes out to you. The poem you reference here I have read many times, and it always fills me with such awe and freedom from the bonds of existence. Your poem title is perfect, and such a fitting farewell to your father. His spirit is still soaring................. with sincere sorrow.......... Linda xx

He was a very loving father an exemplary husband and a very humble person always referring to himself as a soldier or a peasant. Living a life of almost ascetic simplicity. I miss him bitterly! ........ as air force man my self, i witness tragic mid air accdient while taking off from the air base. i know it is hilarious steps but some times deadly too. i too pray great tribute to the sad demise......lovely pome...10/.. befitting tribute.. , , i wrote papa do u know...

Dear Saadat, This is a beautiful poem and a fitting tribute to your dear father whom you obviously adored and respected enormously. I can see why this poem has been chosen as inspiration for the Royal Canadian Air Force. It eloquently and skillfully expresses the freedom of flight and the light of Grace that accompanies it. I am very sorry for your recent loss and thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this fine poem in remembrance. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

i am deeply indebted to all of you friends....who like a true family gave me succor and support in a time of anguish and tribulation. My loss is immense and only time will heal if it ever will….. But people at PH…… I raise my hand in salute…. You knew me just through my few poems and three months at PH……Thousands of miles apart, yet felt for me …asked me about my father’s health…and in the end consoled me and stood by me with kind and comforting words… I thank all of you and those who asked for my email and telephone no to send personal messages of condolence at a more private level…. I can never forget Thanx again….we are indeed an extended family… a sensitive and very human family Vive la PH
