Rape is a shame, and you have brought it out well.

Hi Nivedita, Basically I am not a born poet. I am an Ophthalmic Surgeon and Retired Professor of Ophthalmology from State of Tamil Nadu, (mother tongue is Tamil) one of the four states in South India. I started writing Tamil poems, (Not very conventional; it requires lot of grammatical and poetical knowledge either by birth or early related education and training) . We study English in High School and college especially all medical subjects in English only. If we study in other states with other languages, we had to naturally converse in English with other students and teachers. And also we read daily news paper ‘The Hindu’ in English. We develop English knowledge by experience. I try to write poems for the past two years with simple English and necessary rhymes, if possible. Regarding the second poem, I agree it is a shame not only for Delhiites, but also for any Indian. Suppose 100 men and 100 women are going not all men rape and not all women are raped. But honestly I say most of the women don’t complain for fear of examination and inquiry in the court, and also the case is pending and prolonged in the court for years; that vexes the girl and relatives. Rapists should be punished on the spot, as you said, emasculate radioactively or surgically. V.K.Kanniappan ~~~~~ Respected Dr. Sahib, Thanks for interest in my poem. May I request you to read my other poems e.g. I want To Be Raped, Memo To Missy, Mom By Default Rape, Why Hack My She. I try to keep my poetic calorie at very decibel against all crimes on women. Best regards Yours in Poetry niv ____ Posted thru courtesy of AB London

it all starts at home with a proper upbringing and an equal distribution of authority between the parents. it is time for women in all countries to come to power and defeat the ignorance of a male society. the current sheading of light on this must burn like a magnifying glass and set ablaze a new intolerance for rapists everywhere.

As always you take a somewhat socially taboo discussion and make an intersting statement of protest. The violation of another being is a parasitical abomination for the respect of life. Its atavistic civility indigenous to testasterone canibalism. Or words to that effect

The subject of sexual abuse is a touchy one, people who are victims are deeply effected by it. But a good write, victims of rape, stand up and be honest to yourself, talk to people, anyone will do, to your attacker, make them understand what they have done, make them feel the pain they put you through. You can all do it!

Delhiites are not the rapists but unfortunately Delhi has become a place for it. Law itself is raped here how the girls will be safe.

Hey. I share your views. Originally from Delhi, I feel so sorry. The route of the problem can be traced to 1947. At the time of partition there was an influx of people into Delhi. These were people who left Pakistan and came to Delhi with nothing. They lost all their wealth. To survive they lost all human kindness, compassion etc. They wanted to succeed at any cost. They forgot to teach the next generation about human values. The result is there to see

Dear Nivedita I appreciate your intention, yet with all due respect if permitted one thing I would need to disagree. Delhi could never be the capital of rape, there are numerous worse places in this world where rape is daily done with not one drop of remorse, at broad light to a public opinion never to be brought. Delhi if anything from this point I feel to be the capital of love! As we all seen it reacted wonderfully, all male: brothers, fathers, cousins or friends, taken the streets to teach the world how preciously women shall be held. No dear friend we shall never give any chance to rapers we shall not let them influence us. I pray for no women to be raped again, please dearest not even in your poem as free speech should we ever ask for it. To be controversial might be an aim but we shall not break the harmony only for its sake. Thank you for share dear friend please forgive me for not being able to love this poem.

Civilization has routed out culture to this miserable state now! Sense of beauty, goodness and truth culture maintains but it is too late for the brutes to tame to divinity if not humanity!
