You turned away when I called your name,
Left me standing in silent shame.
My heart cried out, my mind went numb,
Yet still, I longed for her to come.
Through nights of longing, days of pain,
Hoping you'd see, but all in vain.
I chased your shadow, lost in dreams,
Wishing you'd one day call me mine.
She never knew the silent ways,
I watched to shield her through the days.
Not out of need, nor selfish plea,
But love that longed to set her free.
I never stalked, nor meant her fear,
Just wished to keep her safe, my dear.
To help, to guard, to stand so near,
Yet all she saw was doubt, not care.
For months, I tried with love and care,
Hoping she'd see that I was there.
But only when I let her go,
She felt the love she didn't know.
Then she wished to make me stay,
To love me back in her own way.
We shared a bond, so deep, so true,
But fleeting like the morning dew.
Now echoes stay where voices spoke,
A love once whole, now just a ghost.
She moved ahead with heart so light,
While I remained lost in the night.

Beautiful rhyming! Also a very sad poem that truly gives you some taste of the loss of broken friendships! This was excellent!
